Do you have a best friend? My very best friend is my sister. We love talking together, hanging out, learning what makes the other happy, learning what doesn’t. We laugh together and cry together; we tell each other everything.
Our only problem is that my sister and I are sinners. We aren’t perfect; in fact, we are very far from perfect! We mess up, we fight sometimes, and we forget things. The worst part about our friendship is that we are not permanent. One or both of us will eventually graduate, move out, or get married. No matter how wonderful my sister is, she will disappoint me.
Instead, my best friend needs to be Christ – an even better friend than my sister! I need to talk with Him, spend time listening to Him, learn what He loves, and learn what He hates. I should go to Him with all of life’s struggles, I should tell Him about the A I got on my test, or the new friend I made at school. My God is perfect, and He will never leave me nor forsake me. The LORD is my Rock. Will you makeJesus your best friend?
