Remember Moses – Part: 2 By: Janaya Richards

So Moses trusted God and lifted up his hand over the water.  And you’ll never guess what happened.  God was right!!  God knew what He was doing and God parted the water for the Israelites.  Who’d a thunk it?  Verse 22 says, “And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.”  The passage continues in verse 24, “And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians.”   God’s name was glorified!!  Why was God seen as such a mighty, omnipotent God??  Because the Israelites COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT ON THEIR OWN.  God strength is shown because we are so weak.

Let’s say you’re playing baseball.  You’re on an All-Star team with amazing players.  The pitcher winds up and throws the ball.  You’re bat hits it with a resounding Crack! And it’s a homerun! It’s a nice hit, but not as impressive because the guy before you hit a home run and the guy before him hit one too.  But let’s say you’re playing with some neighborhood friends.  Some of them don’t even know how to hold the bat.  The pitcher winds up and throws the ball, and you hit that same homerun. You look like a super star.  It’s not that they make you any greater, but your skill shines out even brighter because no one else could do it.

We don’t make God and better or stronger, but our sinful humanness makes God’s perfect God-ness shine even brighter!!  And that’s what He wants!!  He wants to push us to the end of what WE can do so that He can show us what HE can do!

One of my favorite songs says,

“When failures in my human flesh have ruined all my pride,

And ruined hopes in fallen dreams have crumbled me inside,

It’s then by faith I finally see the strength of Jesus Christ

His victory is real in me when Jesus leads my life!

In my weakness He is strong.

In my need He leads me on.

When I come to the end of all that I am,

And I place my trust in Him,

That’s when His strength begins – In my weakness.”

(In My Weakness; A Quiet Heart, by Soundforth)

How perfect is our God.  And how perfect is His Plan.  God knows what He’s doing, and when you feel like you’re at the point where you just can’t do it, you’re in just the right place.  You CAN’T do it –God Can.

  1. Amen. that is so True!!! When it seems we can’t do it, our Lord humbles us and makes us more dependent on Him, so that His name may be glorified. And He is right by Glorifying Himself because only He deserves the honor and glory and praise. Because we can’t do anything in our own (not even breathe).:D
