As the years have gone by, we contemplate the heroism displayed on September 11th, 2001 with an incredible feeling of pride, because of all the firefighters, police officers, and ordinary citizens who went above and beyond the call of duty to help their fellow Americans in a time of dire need. Faced with remarkable adversity countless stepped up; in a heroic show of brotherly love, they died struggling to save others.

September 11, 2001 Tenth Anniversary Tribute

On September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial U.S. jetliners, deliberately crashing two of the planes into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center and a third plane into the Pentagon. After learning of the other attacks, passengers and crew members on the fourth plane attempted to commandeer control, and the plane was crashed into an empty field in Western Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed on that day, the single largest loss of life from a foreign attack on American soil. And was the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history. Exactly 10 years after the 9/11 attack to this day America presents to the world the National September 11th Memorial.

The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood.
